A key component to the success of the Mizuho Americas Open will be the team of volunteers. Volunteers are instrumental in providing our players and patrons a memorable experience.  To many players and fans, our volunteers become the “face of the tournament.”

There are multiple ways to engage in the Championship with opportunities before, during, and after tournament week. We encourage you to read more about each volunteer opportunity below.

Committee Descriptions

Scoring Services:

Committee is essential in the scoring of the tournament with the use of radio communication and computers.

Collect scorecards, check addition, and make sure players turn in their cards. Also, collect player statistic cards from each caddie.

Responsibilities include keeping score on handheld palm device and reporting scores to scoring control by radio. Volunteers must be able to walk a full 18 holes in all types of weather conditions.  

Full golf knowledge is required, and pre-event training is mandatory.

Player Services:

Responsible for caddie registration, caddie bib distribution/pick-up and providing general services for the LPGA Tour caddies during the event.

Customer service-oriented position.

Provide gallery and noise control on course, assist in player movement, help locate errant golf shots and provide spectators with general information as needed. Marshals are also responsible for assisting with the movement of players on and off the course due to weather delays or whenever deemed necessary. 

Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Customer service-oriented position.

Provide gallery control, assist in player movement and provide spectators with general information, as needed, at the chipping area, driving range and putting greens. Duties include bagging and distributing range balls and making sure range name panels are properly managed.  

Customer service-oriented position. May require standing for long periods of time. 

Hospitality Services:

Serve as the on-site welcoming committee for spectators. Greet spectators at various locations and assist them with navigating the course and reaching their desired location. Answer miscellaneous questions.

Distribute pre-purchased tournament credentials to the appropriate recipient at will-call locations, sell tickets on site and act as ambassadors for the event. Committee members will also be scanning tickets and greeting patrons as they enter the main gates of the tournament.

Greet sponsors and other guests as they enter the hospitality areas and answer any questions. Ensure that clients with proper credentials are allowed access to the designated areas and help assist in the special events tournament week (women’s leadership program, junior clinic, etc.)

Assist with set up, registration, gift distribution and other tasks for special events and activities during Tournament week including Pro-Am Pairings Party and Pro-Am Day.

Customer service-oriented position.

Inventory, package, and distribute volunteer uniforms. Manage volunteer apparel exchanges. Assist with sale of excess volunteer apparel during Tournament week.

Customer service-oriented position. Some lifting of boxes required.

Support tournament staff in interactions with volunteers. Primary duties include managing the volunteer tent where volunteers check-in and support other volunteer committees as needed during the day.

Operation Services:

Allocate golf carts to authorized personnel who have been assigned a cart. Volunteers must strictly enforce all cart assignments through a check-on and check-out sheet. They must also ensure all carts are returned and charged daily.

Must be age 18 or older with a valid US issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart.

Committee works with television production crew in monitoring the tournament leaders for television broadcast. Relay tournament play information, such as what each player lies and what player is hitting next, to Golf Channel staff.

This committee requires golf knowledge and ability to walk the course (keeping pace with assigned group).

Distribute beverages and snacks to locations on the golf course, starter tents, scoring, practice range, media center, volunteer village, and other designated areas.

May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

Drive players & caddies from the driving range to No. 10 prior to their tee time, and from No. 9 to the driving range following their round.

Must be age 18 or older with a valid US issued driver’s license.

Accompany each professional grouping during play and display their scores on a standard sign.

Must be able to carry a standard sign (approx. 5-7 lbs.). Must be able to walk 18 holes without a break.

Provide cart transportation for volunteers around the golf course.

Must be age 18 or older with a valid U.S. issued driver’s license to operate a golf cart.

Follow the link here to create an account. You will be able to select committee and scheduling preferences. Once you have registered to volunteer you will receive a confirmation email.

You will be notified of your volunteer schedule in April. We will make every effort to accommodate your availability preferences; however, we cannot guarantee each request will be granted.

The volunteer package is $75 and includes:

  • Official Volunteer Uniform (polo shirt, outerwear piece, and hat)
  • Admission to the tournament for the week
  • 2 weekly passes for family & friends
  • Invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party
  • Meals provided per shift as well as drinks and snacks throughout the day
  • Total package value is over $300

Yes—there will be an option to purchase an outwear piece and additional polo shirts. Details coming at a later date.

Each volunteer must be able to work a minimum of three (3) shifts. A shift will be 4 hour to 6 hour time frame either AM or PM.

The minimum age to volunteer is 13 years old.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian complete the waiver.

When completing your availability, there will be an option to enter the name of another volunteer you would like to work with. We will make every effort to accommodate your pairing preferences; however, we cannot guarantee each request will be granted.

While some positions to require golf knowledge, there are volunteer positions for everyone and training sessions for committees with specific duties will take place prior to tournament week.

Volunteers will receive a Volunteer Parking Hangtag to Liberty State Park – Lot 8, in the Statue of Liberty Ferry parking lot. Volunteers should use 30 Audrey Zapp Drive in their GPS and follow signage to enter the lot from Freedom Way.
